About Us
The Department of Structural Biology is comprised of 14 faculty members and covers a broad range of research in structural biology, as well as biophysics and biochemistry. Problems currently under investigation include molecular recognition by the immune system; cellular recognition by adhesion molecules; structure and activity of molecular chaperones; structure and mechanism of ribozymes; transcriptional mechanisms; and protein folding.
Structural
Biology is home to approximately 80 graduate students, postdoctoral fellows
and academic and scientific staff who play a vital role in the success of
the department.
Structural Biology is supported by a dedicated administrative
staff whose goal is to provide a high level of support for research
and study, thus ensuring the smooth, daily functioning of the department. The
administrative offices are located in D100 of the Fairchild Science Building
and are open from 7:00AM to 6:00PM.
